Come one, come all! Two established teams, one a newer team that started up in Splatoon 2 and one a veteran team lasting since the days of Splatoon 1, two teams that have won their fair share of tournaments in Splatoon 2, and two teams that can both give the other a run for their money as they are arguably two of the best in the West. Our second InkTV exhibition match will feature Saikai and TOMO! This will be a battle of top North American teams (arguably the second and third best teams in NA behind STDx), in a showdown to see which team will be able to claim NA supremacy! Here's a quick rundown on the match-up we have on tap for you:

  • Saikai won our first exhibition over Eclipse.
  • Saikai and TOMO faced each other twice in the recent InkCage II.
    • Saikai defeated TOMO during the day 1 pools. Saikai and TOMO pools
    • TOMO got their revenge by knocking Saikai to losers bracket of top 12 during day 2.
    • As it turns out, both teams finished tied for fifth in InkCage II, making them the highest placing non-European teams. They also claimed their respective set against the other team by the same score, 3 games to 1. Saikai and TOMO bracket
  • Both teams also played in the January Squidboards Splat Series and finished tied for fifth, both losing their quarterfinals sets 3-1 (to El Firmament and Ethereal, respectively).
  • It should also be noted that Saikai had their choice of a handful of teams on who they would face in this exhibition, and they chose TOMO because they believed this would be the match-up to most likely give them a challenge.

I have personally seen these two teams face off and compete in tournaments I have run for several months now, and a few things I would expect are as follows:

  1. Close matches, for every single match played.
  2. A back-and-forth exhibition set that is guaranteed to be entertaining
  3. We will see, at least for one night, which of these evenly matched teams will come out a winner

If you are looking forward to this match-up as much as I am, then feel free to join us for all the action this Sunday at 7 pm EST LIVE on our Twitch! We hope to see you there!
